...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a High Rip
Current Risk, which is in effect from 8 AM EDT this morning
through this evening. 

* TIMING...While dangerous rip currents will be present all day,
  the threat will be highest through mid morning and again from
  mid afternoon to sunset.

* IMPACTS...Long-period swells will produce strong rip currents 
  in the surf zone today, posing a threat to all levels of 
  swimmers. Entering the surf is strongly discouraged.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards...beach patrol flags and
signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
