...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...
...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for a high risk or rip currents and rough surf,
which is in effect through this evening. A High Rip Current Risk
has also been issued. This High Rip Current Risk is in effect
through this evening.

* HAZARDS...Long period northeast swells will bring a high risk of
  rip currents and rough surf.

* TIMING...7 am to 8 pm.

* LOCATION...All east central Florida beaches.

* IMPACTS...Rough surf can knock you down and make you
susceptible to being caught in a rip current.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards...beach patrol flags and
signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
