Rip Currents Through Late Afternoon...

...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM EDT THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a High Rip
Current Risk, which is in effect from 7 AM EDT this morning
through this evening. 

* RIP CURRENTS AND SURF...Swells from Tropical Storm Humberto will
  continue along the Treasure Coast beaches today. There will be a
  high risk of rip currents. Rough surf is also expected. 

* TIMING...The seaward pull of rip currents will be strongest in
  the mid to late afternoon around the time of low tide.

* IMPACTS...Rough surf can knock you down and make you  
  susceptible to being caught in a rip current. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards...beach patrol flags and
signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

  beaches at least through tonight. Minor beach erosion is
  possible around the time of high tide between 9 am and 10 am
  this morning and 9 pm and 10 pm this evening.
 
* TIMING...Surf will continue to build through tonight.

* IMPACTS...High surf can knock you down and make you 
  susceptible to being caught in a rip current.
