...High Surf Advisory and High Risk of Rip Currents Today...

.Tropical Storm Humberto near the northern Bahamas this morning
will move northwest today and northward well offshore from east 
central Florida through late tonight. High surf will develop at
east central Florida beaches into this afternoon with a high risk
of rip currents also expected.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...
...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a High Surf
Advisory, which is in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening. A High
Rip Current Risk has also been issued. This High Rip Current Risk
is in effect through this evening. 

* WAVES AND SURF...High surf is expected to develop at east
  central Florida beaches through this afternoon and evening with
  a high risk of rip currents also expected. Minor beach erosion
  is possible around the time of high tide around 9 am this
  morning and also around 9 pm this evening.

* TIMING...Surf will build through the daytime hours with the risk
  of strong rip currents heightened around the time of low tide in
  the mid afternoon. 

* IMPACTS...High surf can knock you down and make you susceptible
  to being caught in a rip current.  

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing localized beach erosion and dangerous
swimming conditions.

There is a high risk of rip currents. Rip currents are powerful 
channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur 
most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the 
vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice 
of lifeguards...beach patrol flags and signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
