...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a High Rip
Current Risk, which is in effect through this evening. 

* TIMING...The rip current threat will be HIGH along the beaches
  of east central Florida today. The threat will be highest
  through 9:30 AM this morning and after 3:30 PM this afternoon,
  due to the effects of low tide. The next low tide will occur
  around 12:30 PM this afternoon. 

* IMPACTS...Life threatening rip currents are expected again
  today. It should be noted that almost 300 surf rescues were
  reported by beach authorities this past weekend between Volusia
  and Brevard Counties. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards...beach patrol flags and
signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
