...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for rough surf and strong rip currents, which 
is in effect through this evening.


* HAZARDS...Large breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet in the surf zone.
  Strong and dangerous rip currents will also be present.

* TIMING...These hazards will be present all day, with the surf
  particularly rough through the late morning high tide around 11
  AM. Greatest threat for rip currents will occur from mid 
  afternoon through early evening due to tidal effects.

* LOCATION...The entire central Florida Atlantic surf zone from
  Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...Rough surf and large breaking waves can
  knock you down and make you susceptible to seaward flowing rip
  currents.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
