...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for rough surf and a moderate risk of rip
currents, which is in effect through this evening.

* HAZARDS...Breezy northeast winds and elevated swells will
produce rough surf and a moderate risk for strong and dangerous
rip currents at east central Florida beaches today.

* TIMING...Rough surf will persist through the day, while the
peak rip current threat will be through the morning into mid
  afternoon due to tidal effects.

* LOCATION...All east central Florida beaches from Ormond Beach
  to Jupiter Inlet.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...The rough breaking surf will be capable of
knocking people down, making them susceptible to getting caught
  in a dangerous rip current.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
