...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT FOR
ROUGH SURF AND RIP CURRENTS...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for rough surf and a moderate rip current threat,
which is in effect through late tonight.

* HAZARDS...Rough and pounding waves are expected in the surf zone
today as winds increase out of the east and northeast. This will
be compounded by a moderate rip current threat.

* TIMING...The rough surf will persist through the day, while the
peak rip current threat will be through noon and after 6:30 PM.

* LOCATION...Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...The rough breaking surf will be capable of
knocking people down, making them susceptible to getting caught
  in a dangerous rip current.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
