...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FOR ROUGH SURF AND RIP
CURRENTS FROM 7 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for rough surf and dangerous rip currents, 
which is in effect from 7 AM EDT this morning through this 
evening. 

* HAZARDS...Breaking waves of 4 to 6 feet will produce rough  
  surf at the beaches. In addition to the dangerous surf, there is
  also a High Risk of life threatening rip currents. 

* TIMING...Hazards in the surf will be present all day.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...Large breakers can knock you down and make
  you susceptible to being caught in strong rip currents. Waves
  crashing across piers and jetties can also make it difficult to
  stand or walk.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
