The National Weather Service in Elko has issued a Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 8 AM this morning to 2 PM PDT this afternoon. * WINDS...south winds 25 to 35 mph, gusting up to 50 mph. * TIMING...strongest winds will occur this morning before decreasing this afternoon * IMPACTS...The strong winds will blow away loose and unanchored property as well as make travel difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Summits and higher elevation areas can expect some of the strongest winds. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph with gusts in excess of 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Strong wind gusts have subsided, coinciding with the widespread showers that are spreading eastward across White Pine County. Wind gusts exceeding 45 mph are no longer expected. Earlier this afternoon at 124 PM, a peak wind gust of 46 mph was measured at the Ely airport. $$
