The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a High
Surf Advisory, which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to 11 PM
EDT Wednesday. A Coastal Flood Advisory has also been issued.
This Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from 6 PM this evening
to 11 PM EDT Wednesday. In addition, a High Rip Current Risk has
been issued. This High Rip Current Risk is in effect from 10 AM
EDT this morning through Wednesday evening.

* LOCATIONS...Atlantic Coastal Areas of Northeast Florida and
  Southeast Georgia and the St Johns River downstream of
  Jacksonville through Mayport.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...Up to 1 foot today and 1 to 2 feet tonight and
  Wednesday.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Flooding of low lying areas along the
  shore during times of high tide.

* SURF AND RIP CURRENT RISK...Surf/Breakers will build to 5 to 8
  feet along the coast tonight and continue through Wednesday.
  High risk of rip currents expected through Wednesday.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Beach erosion expected during times of high
  tide.

* TIMING...The main impacts of this event will begin during this
  evenings high tide cycle through the morning high tide cycle on
  Wednesday before starting to lessen by Wednesday Night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach
erosion.

A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

There is a High Risk of rip currents.

Rip currents will be life threatening.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties
and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards and the beach patrol.
Pay attention to flags and posted signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current remain calm.
Don't fight the current. Swim in a direction following the
shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave
for help. If tired, float or tread water until out of the rip
current.
