The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The island of Kauai in Kauai County

* Until 630 PM HST.

* At 334 PM HST, a rain gage in Hanalei reported a rain rate of more 
  than 3 inches per hour. The area of heavy rain was moving north. 
  Another area of heavy rainfall is moving toward Kauai from the 
  southeast. This area is expected to reach the south shore within 
  30 minutes and move across the island. 

* This warning includes the entire island of Kauai.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring in
streams, roads, and low lying areas. Move to higher ground now.

Do not cross fast flowing water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn
around, don't drown.

This warning may need to be extended beyond 630 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 PM HST FOR THE
ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...

At 356 PM HST, the Hanalei River gage reported a water level 
increase of more than 7 feet. This will likely flood Kuhio Highway 
near the Hanalei Bridge within the next hour.  

A band of heavy rainfall has reached the south shore of Kauai and is 
moving northwestward across the island.

This warning includes the entire island of Kauai.

ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...

At 503 PM HST, Kauai Emergency Management Agency reported water 
rising rapidly near Hanalei River Bridge. Water has started to flow 
onto Kuhio Highway.

Rainfall rates have decreased over Kauai as the heaviest rainfall 
has moved north of the island. However, runoff levels will remain 
high for a few hours.

This warning includes the entire island of Kauai.
