...DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS AND MINOR COASTAL OVERWASH EXPECTED AT
THE LOCAL BEACHES TONIGHT...

.A surface trough of low pressure lingering near the lower Texas
Gulf Coastline will maintain a high threat of rip currents
throughout tonight. In addition, this trough of low pressure will
also maintain the threat of minor coastal overwash on Padre Island
tonight. These hazardous conditions will start to gradually
improve on Monday.

...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...

...MINOR COASTAL OVERWASH POSSIBLE TONIGHT...

* COASTAL FLOODING...Occasional tidal surf nearing the base of the
  dunes.

* TIMING...From now until sunrise Monday morning. A minor low tide
is expected at 9O4 PM tonight. A minor high tide is expected at
1118 PM. Another low tide is expected at 739 AM Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming conditions expected due to
increased strength and higher frequency of rip currents.
Swimmers may have difficulty returning to shore. Walking may be
difficult during high tide and vehicles may be inundated by high
  water.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore...which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins...
jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards...beach patrol
flags and signs.

If you become caught in a rip current...yell for help. Remain
calm...do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for
help. If you have to swim out of a rip current...swim parallel to
shore and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to
swim directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly.
