The National Weather Service in Gaylord has issued a LAKESHORE FLOOD ADVISORY, which is in effect from noon today to midnight EDT tonight. A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT has also been issued. This BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT is in effect from noon EDT today through this evening. * LAKE SHORE FLOODING...The combination of high water levels, south to southwest winds gusting to 30 mph, and 4 to 6 foot waves will lead to lakeshore flooding and beach erosion. * TIMING...This afternoon through this evening. * LOCATION...Lake Michigan shoreline areas of Mackinac county and from Grand Traverse Light to Manistee. * IMPACTS...High winds and waves onshore will generate some beach flooding and erosion. Waves may completely submerge pier decks at times. In addition...rivers that have outlets into Lake Michigan...may see water pushed back into the river channel... which could result in water overtopping river banks. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Lakeshore Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds will generate flooding of low areas along the lakeshore.
