EVENING FOR WIND GUSTS OVER 30 MPH, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND DRY

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from noon today to 7 PM CDT this
evening. 

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zones 022, 023, 035, 036, 037, 
  038, and 054. 

* WIND...South-southwest 20 to 30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.

* HUMIDITY...Minimum Relative Humidity of 18 to 22 percent.

* THUNDERSTORMS...May develop around 3 PM across Pottawatomie,
  Wabaunsee and Lyon counties.


* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. 
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can

...RED FLAG WARNING WILL EXPIRE AT 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR  
FIRE WEATHER ZONES 022, 023, 035, 036, 037, 038, AND 054...

Winds have diminished this evening and RH values are beginning to
recover with cooler air moving in from the west. Therefore fire
weather conditions are no longer extreme and the red flag warning
will be allowed to expire.
