Several days of heavy rainfall with amounts ranging from 2 to 
as much as 6 inches across parts of the Dan River basin will cause
flooding along the river in parts of Rockingham, Pittsylvania, 
the City of Danville and downstream in Halifax County. 
  
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded areas...the water may be much deeper

Two to five inches of rain have fallen across parts of southwest Virginia and northwest North Carolina since Wednesday. This has resulted in significant rises along the Dan, James, and Roanoke Rivers.

Backwater effects were also resulted in flooding. As the flood crest progressed down the James River flooding along the Slate River at Arvonia.
