The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Central Huerfano County in southeastern Colorado...

* Until 245 AM MDT.

* At 1141 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the northeast section of the Spring burn scar. 
  Flash flooding and debris flows is expected to begin shortly.

* Flash flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of central 
  Huerfano County. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result 
  in debris flows. The heaviest rain over the burn scar was 
  occurring north of highway 160.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 245 AM MDT FOR
CENTRAL HUERFANO COUNTY...

At 1225 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
heavy rain across the warned area, especially north of Highway 
160.  Flash flooding is expected. 

Excessive rainfall over northeastern and eastern sections of the 
Spring burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the Dog 
Springs Arroyo and North Abeyta Creek Drainages. The debris flow can 
consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.
