404 AM CST Fri Jan 19 2018

...Heavy snow Sunday night into Monday across Central Minnesota
and northern Wisconsin...

.A winter storm will bring a band of moderate to heavy snow late
Sunday evening. There may be a brief break in the snow early
Monday morning, but snow should increase again by mid morning with
snowfall totals of 5 to 8 inches possible by the time the storm
exits the region Monday evening. At this point, the snow will fall
from Mankato through St Paul Minnesota toward Ladysmith Wisconsin.

A wintry mix with freezing rain is possible south of the heavy
snow band. This could lead to slick roads as well. Winds will be
on the order of 20 to 30 mph which will also cause some blowing
and drifting. The track of the heaviest snow will likely change
as the forecast is updated over the next couple of days, but at
this point be prepared for difficult driving conditions if you
have travel plans across central or southern Minnesota and western
and northern Wisconsin.

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN
1100 AM CST Sat Jan 20 2018

...WINTER STORM AIMING FOR SOUTHERN MINNESOTA TO WESTERN AND
NORTHERN WISCONSIN LATE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY EVENING...
...TIGHT SNOWFALL GRADIENT ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE BAND LIKELY...

.A strong storm system will bring an area of heavy snow across a
portion of southern through east central Minnesota into western
Wisconsin by early Monday morning. Snowfall totals of 6 to 12
inches are possible by the time the storm exits the region Monday
evening. At this point, the heaviest snow will fall south of a
line from Redwood Falls through the Twin Cities toward St Croix
Falls and Rice Lake. There may only be minor snow accumulations
northwest of that line, therefore any slight shift in track could
result in localized large snowfall forecast changes. Other areas
that may see heavy snow include Fairmont, Mankato, River Falls and
Eau Claire.

A wintry mix with a period of freezing rain is possible in far
southern Minnesota near the Iowa border, then toward Eau Claire,
leading to slick roads. In addition, northeast winds between
20 to 35 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow and whiteout
conditions at times, especially in open country. Winds will begin
diminishing Monday night.

Remember, this is still a Winter Storm watch, and the track of
the heaviest snow may change. Be prepared for difficult driving
conditions if you have travel plans across central or southern
Minnesota and western and northern Wisconsin.

356 AM CST Sun Jan 21 2018

...MAJOR WINTER STORM HIGHLY LIKELY MONDAY ACROSS
SOUTHERN/EASTERN MINNESOTA INTO WESTERN WISCONSIN...
...VERY TIGHT SNOWFALL GRADIENT EXPECTED OVER THE METRO SO THE
WINTER STORM WATCH CONTINUES FOR THE METRO...

.A portion of the Winter Storm Warning has been upgraded to a
Blizzard Warning from Mankato to the south and west, including
Fairmont and St. James. The Winter Storm Warning was expanded
slightly southeast. A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from
Gaylord through the Twin Cites metro and Balsam Lake as this area
will be close to a very tight snow gradient.

A strong storm system will bring an area of heavy snow across
south central and east central Minnesota into western Wisconsin
by early Monday morning. Snowfall totals of 8 to 14 inches are
likely by Monday evening in the warning area. Strong winds with
gusts up to 40 MPH during the heavy snow period will lead to
blizzard conditions in a portion of south central MN. Farther
east, winds will be in the 20 to 30 MPH range and cause blowing
and drifting snow.

A wintry mix with a period of freezing rain is also possible
Monday morning from Albert Lea toward Eau Claire, resulting in
light ice accumulation.

Be prepared for difficult driving conditions if you have travel
plans across central or southern Minnesota and western and
northern Wisconsin.

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN
1100 AM CST Sun Jan 21 2018

...MAJOR WINTER STORM HIGHLY LIKELY MONDAY ACROSS SOUTHERN/
EASTERN MINNESOTA INTO WESTERN WISCONSIN...
...VERY TIGHT SNOWFALL GRADIENT EXPECTED OVER THE METRO SO THE
WINTER STORM WATCH CONTINUES FOR THE METRO...

.A Blizzard Warning continues from Mankato to the south and west,
including Fairmont and St. James Monday. The Winter Storm Warning
is in effect for the rest of south central Minnesota and most of
west central Wisconsin. A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect
from Gaylord through the Twin Cites metro and Balsam Lake as this
area will be close to a very tight snow gradient.

A strong storm system will bring an area of heavy snow across
south central and east central Minnesota into western Wisconsin
by Monday morning. Snowfall totals of 8 to 14 inches are likely
by Monday evening in the warning area. Strong winds with gusts up
to 40 MPH during the heavy snow period will lead to blizzard
conditions in a portion of south central MN. Farther east, winds
will be in the 20 to 30 MPH range and cause patchy blowing and
drifting snow.

Driving conditions will deteriorate very
rapidly heading east on I-94 or south on I-35 through the Twin
Cities Monday.
