...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a High Rip
Current Risk for Volusia County, which is in effect until 8 PM 
EDT this evening.

* TIMING...The threat for life-threatening rip currents will be
  present all day, however, the risk will be particularly high 
  through 4:00 PM due to the outgoing tide. 

* IMPACTS...Volusia County Beach Safety reported numerous rip
  current rescues on Friday and Saturday. Despite a small ocean
  swell, low astronomical tides due to the full moon will continue
  the high risk for life-threatening rip currents today. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away 
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the 
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and 
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards...beach patrol flags and 
signs.
