...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM EST THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for longshore and rip currents, which is in 
effect from 7 AM EST this morning through this evening. 

* HAZARDS...Strong southward flowing longshore current and
  dangerous rip currents.

* TIMING...Through 7 pm.

* LOCATION...The surf zone of Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, 
  Saint Lucie and Martin counties.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...Strong north winds will produce a southward 
  flowing longshore current which can knock you off the sandbar 
  into deeper water. Life threatening rip currents are also 
  possible near reefs, piers, and jetties. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Surf zone conditions will pose a moderate hazard. Only enter the 
surf near a lifeguard.
