...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for longshore currents and rip currents, which 
is in effect through this evening.


* HAZARDS...strong longshore currents and dangerous rip currents.

* TIMING...through 7 pm this evening.

* LOCATION...along east central Florida beaches.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...gusty winds from the southeast will result
  in large waves and strong currents moving from the south to the
  north. Life threatening rip currents are also possible near
  reefs, piers, and jetties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Surf zone conditions will pose a moderate hazard. A northward
flowing longshore current can knock you off the sandbar into
deeper water. Life threatening rip currents are also possible near
reefs, piers, and jetties. Only enter the surf near a lifeguard.
