...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM UNTIL 7 PM...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for Rough Surf and numerous strong Rip Currents.
It is in effect from 9 AM this morning until 7 PM this evening.


* HAZARDS...Large breaking waves up to around 6 feet. Numerous
  strong Rip Currents.

* TIMING...9 AM this morning through 7 PM this evening.

* LOCATION...The east central Florida Atlantic beaches of Volusia 
  Brevard, Indian River, Saint Lucie and Martin counties.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...Rough surf can knock you down and make you
  susceptible to seaward flowing rip currents.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
