...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for Rough Surf and a Moderate Risk of rip
currents, which is in effect through this evening. 

* HAZARDS...Gusty East winds will create rough surf along with rip
  currents at the beaches.

* TIMING...Rough surf will be present all day. The threat for rip
  currents will be highest this afternoon due to tidal effects,
  except they will exist all day near piers, jetties and reefs.

* LOCATION...Along the Atlantic coast beaches of Volusia, Brevard,
  Indian River, Saint Lucie and Martin counties.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...Rough surf can knock you down and make you
  susceptible to seaward flowing rip currents.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
