The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for Rough Surf and Dangerous Rip Currents, which is in effect through this evening. * HAZARDS...Rough surf, with breaking waves up to around 5 feet. and numerous Strong Rip Currents. * TIMING...While Rough Surf and Rip Currents will be present all day, the threat for Rips will be highest between 11 AM and 5 PM due to tidal effects. * LOCATION...All central Florida Beaches from Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet. * POTENTIAL IMPACTS...Rough surf can knock you down and make you susceptible to rip currents. Weak swimmers may not want to enter the water above their knees. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. && $$
