However, very large and energetic northwest swell spreading into the coastal waters is expected to arrive on the Central Coast by afternoon. This new swell will likely bring damaging warning level surf of 15 to 20 feet with local sets to 25 feet to west and northwest facing beaches of the Central Coast beginning this afternoon. The large breaking waves could produce some minor coastal flooding, mainly of parking lots, especially near the time of high tides through Saturday. On west facing beaches south of Point Conception. surf will also build later today and tonight, peaking at 8 to 12 feet tonight and Friday. Local sets to 15 feet are possible on exposed west facing locations such as Ventura Harbor.
