Southern Jackson County in east central Iowa... Northern Clinton County in east central Iowa... * Until 1015 AM CDT. * At 419 AM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding was reported in the city of Charlotte along Deep Creek and Willow Creek. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Clinton, Maquoketa, Preston, Sabula, Delmar, Miles, Charlotte, Welton, Andover, Spragueville, Nashville, Van Buren, Goose Lake, Bryant, Lyons, Bulgers Hollow, Teeds Grove, Maquoketa Municipal Airport, Jackson County Fairgrounds and Buckhorn. At 541 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches had occurred from overnight thunderstorms from Delmar to Andover in northern Clinton County. Also, a trained spotter reported rainfall of 4.8 inches near Andover at 444 AM CDT. Law enforecement reported that flooding was observed in the city of Charlotte around 415 AM CDT. Flash flooding was continuing along Deep Creek and Honey Creek, with recent gage reports indicated stream levels possibly as high as 10 feet above normal. Another round of thunderstorms will move out of Jackson County into northern Clinton county through 7 am. This may bring an additional 1 inch of rainfall and additional flooding over the warned area. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
