...LAKESHORE FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EDT THIS
AFTERNOON...
...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a
Beach Hazards Statement for dangerous swimming conditions, which
is in effect from 8 AM EDT this morning through this evening. A
Lakeshore Flood Advisory also remains in effect through this
afternoon.

* Lake Shore Flooding... A strong cold front will move through
southern Lake Huron tonight. A sharp wind shift to the north
will occur behind the front and gusty wind will build high
waves into the Thumb region shoreline through Friday morning.

* Impacts... The undisturbed water level of Lake Huron is nearly
40 inches above chart datum. The high water level and high
waves will combine to produce minor shoreline flooding and
erosion. Damage to docks, boat lifts, and watercraft anchored
and unprotected along the shoreline can also be expected.

* High Wave Action and Dangerous Swimming Conditions Expected.

* Location...Beaches from Caseville to Port Huron including...

  Caseville...Sand Point...Port Crescent State Park...Port
  Austin...Harbor Beach...Port Sanilac...Lexington...Birch
  Beach...Lakeport...Fort Gratiot...Port Huron.

* Impacts...The high wave action will be favorable for rip
currents and structural currents that make swimming dangerous.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Lakeshore Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds will
generate high waves capable of flooding low areas causing erosion
and other damage along the lakeshore.

High wave action alone can make swimming difficult on days such
as this. Incoming waves in rapid succession can tire a swimmer
quickly.
