...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH
TUESDAY EVENING...
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a High Rip
Current Risk, which is in effect from Tuesday morning through
Tuesday evening.
* LOCATIONS...In South Carolina, Coastal Jasper County. In Georgia,
Coastal Bryan, Coastal Chatham, Coastal Liberty and Coastal
McIntosh Counties.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Tides at Fort Pulaski are expected to
reach 9.1 to 9.3 feet Mean Lower Low Water with the evening high
tide. Shallow saltwater inundation above ground level is possible
in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. At 9.2
feet Mean Lower Low Water, shallow coastal flooding typically
begins along the middle and upper Georgia coast as well as Jasper
County, South Carolina. Highway 80 between Wilmington Island and
Tybee Island should remain passable at this tide level, although
water will approach the sides of the road in places.
* SURF ZONE IMPACTS...Life-threatening rip currents are expected.
* TIMING...For Coastal Flooding, high tide will occur around 9:30 PM
today at Fort Pulaski. Saltwater inundation will be possible 1 to
2 hours before and after high tide.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
No one should enter the surf due to life threatening rip currents.

* LOCATIONS...Beaufort County.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Tides in Charleston Harbor are expected to
reach 7.0 to 7.2 feet Mean Lower Low Water with the midnight high
tide. Shallow saltwater inundation is possible in low-lying areas
near shorelines and tidal waterways across Beaufort County. At 7.0
feet Mean Lower Low Water, shallow coastal flooding typically
begins along much of the lower South Carolina coast.
* SURF ZONE IMPACTS...Life-threatening rip currents are expected
today. Breaking waves at the beaches will build to 5 to 7 feet
overnight and continue into Thursday. Significant erosion is
possible, especially around times of high tide.
* TIMING...High tide will occur around 1207 AM in the Beaufort River
at Beaufort. Saltwater inundation will be possible 1 to 2 hours
before and after high tide.

Everyone should remain out of the water. Mariners should use extreme
