731 WWUS81 KBUF 250607 SPSBUF Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Buffalo NY 207 AM EDT WED JUL 25 2018 NYZ010>012-020-021-085-250645- Cattaraugus-Allegany-Southern Erie-Wyoming-Genesee-Northern Erie- 207 AM EDT WED JUL 25 2018 ...AN AREA OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT WYOMING...NORTHEASTERN CATTARAUGUS...EASTERN ERIE...NORTHWESTERN ALLEGANY AND GENESEE COUNTIES... At 204 AM EDT, radar indicated a north to south oriented line of heavy showers and thunderstorms extending from near Wales Center to 6 miles south of Franklinville. While the individual storms within the line are moving northeast at about 35 mph...the line itself is only moving east at about 15 mph. This will encourage storms to train over the same area for a prolonged period...producing rainfall amounts that could very easily exceed one inch in an hours time. Locations impacted include... Batavia, Darien Lakes State Park, Marilla, Pembroke, Warsaw, Bennington, Akron, Alden, Attica and Byron. This includes the following highways... Interstate 90 between exits 48A and 48. Interstate 86 near exit 28. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
