* Flash Flood Warning for...
  South central Hidalgo County in Deep South Texas...

* Until 915 PM CDT

* At 721 PM CDT, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated 
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across South Central Hidalgo 
  County. From 2 to 3 inches of rain have already fallen across the 
  Mission and McAllen areas and additional rainfall is expected. 
  Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly or is already ongoing.
  Law enforcement officials have relayed reports of stranded cars in 
  the Mission area. 

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Mission, Palmhurst, North McAllen, Sharyland, South McAllen, 
  Alton, McAllen High School, Granjero, Las Palmas Community Center 
  and McAllen Fire Department.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 915 PM CDT FOR
SOUTH CENTRAL HIDALGO COUNTY...

At 754 PM CDT, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated 
thunderstorms producing heavy rain continued south of the Mission 
and McAllen areas. Brownsville radar estimated that from three to 
four inches of rain have already fallen near and south of the 
Mission and McAllen areas. Law enforcement and city officials report 
that the following streets and roads in the Mission area should be 
avoided. 

Shary Road from 495 to 2 mile line.
Stewart Road between Business and 495. 
200 block of North Conway to 100 block of South Conway. 
Inspiration Road from 495 to 2 1/2 mile line. 
Colorado Street between Taylor Road to Shary Road.

Mission, Palmhurst, Sharyland, South McAllen, Alton, Granjero.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
