Behind the front, strong northwest winds 30-45 mph with gusts to 60 mph are expected Tuesday morning. Winds should weaken below warning levels by midday. Elsewhere in the mountains, strong subsidence combined with strong mountain top flow out of the west-northwest should lead to sustained winds 50-65 mph with gusts to 80 mph during the early morning hours Tuesday. The strongest winds should occur across the Continental Divide and the higher east slope foothills between I-70 and the Wyoming border. Some of these stronger winds may reach the wind prone areas from Boulder to Golden and western Fort Collins.
