...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 7 PM AKDT TUESDAY FOR
TURNAGAIN ARM AND THE UPPER HILLSIDE...

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a High Wind
Warning, which is in effect from 6 AM to 7 PM AKDT Tuesday. 

* LOCATION...Turnagain Arm and the Upper Hillside.

* WIND...Southeast winds 50 to 65 mph with gusts to 80 mph are
  expected along Turnagain Arm and the Upper Hillside. While
  warning level winds are not expected over the lower elevations
  of the Anchorage bowl, we are expecting southeast winds 20 to 30
  with gusts to 45 mph to develop in town.

* TIMING...Winds will steadily increase overnight tonight into
  early Tuesday morning. Winds are expected to peak midday Tuesday
  and diminish below warning level by early Tuesday evening, 
  though gusty winds are expected to persist through Tuesday 
  night.

* IMPACTS...Travel may be difficult. Trees may be blown over. 
  Loose debris can be moved and damage property.

A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. People are urged to secure loose objects that could
be blown around or damaged by the wind.

* LOCATION...Turnagain Arm and the Upper Hillside.

* WIND...Southeast winds 50 to 65 mph with gusts to 80 mph are 
  expected along Turnagain Arm and the Upper Hillside. While 
  warning level winds are not expected over the lower elevations 
  of the Anchorage bowl, we are expecting southeast winds 20 to

* LOCATION...East Anchorage and other areas right along the
  mountains as well as Turnagain Arm and the Hillside.

* WIND...Along Turnagain Arm and the upper hillside, southeast
  winds 50 to 65 mph with gusts to 80 mph. For East Anchorage and
  the lower Hillside, southeast winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts to
  60 mph. The rest of Anchorage, southeast winds 15 to 30 with
  gusts to 45 mph. 

* TIMING...Winds will continue to increase this morning with the 
  peak winds occurring from late morning through mid afternoon. 
  The winds should diminish below warning level by early 
  evening, although gusty winds are expected to persist through 
  Tuesday night. 

* IMPACTS...Travel may be difficult. Trees may be blown over.

Widespread warning level winds in excess of 70 mph are no longer
expected. Strong winds gusting to 65 mph along Turnagain Arm and 
the Anchorage Hillside, with gusts to 50 mph for the lower
elevations of the Anchorage Bowl, should still be expected this
evening.
