137 WWUS75 KABQ 101044 NPWABQ URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 344 AM MST Sat Feb 10 2018 ...STRONG WEST WINDS FOR CENTRAL AND WESTERN NEW MEXICO TODAY... .West winds will increase through late this morning ahead of a storm system moving south from Colorado. The strongest winds are expected between 1 pm and 6 pm along the Interstate 40 corridor from Gallup to Grants, the Southwest Mountains, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and the Capitan and Sacramento Mountains. Winds will turn sharply to the northwest as a strong cold front moves through the area this evening. Strong cross winds are expected along north to south oriented roadways. Very dry conditions the past several months will increase the potential for blowing dust, especially downwind of open fields, dry arroyo beds, construction sites, and other dust prone locations. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 6 PM MST this evening. * LOCATION...Much of western New Mexico, the Sangre de Cristos, Capitan, and Sacramento Mountains. * WINDS...West 25 to 35 mph with gusts near 45 mph. * TIMING...Winds will increase through late morning then peak between 1 pm and 6 pm before diminishing slowly this evening. * VISIBILITY...Locally reduced from blowing dust. * LOCAL IMPACTS...Strong cross winds will impact north to south oriented roadways.
