460 WWUS75 KABQ 010924 NPWABQ URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 324 AM MDT Fri Jun 1 2018 ...STRONG WINDS ACROSS NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO TODAY... .A trough of low pressure will move away from the Great Basin this morning and cross New Mexico late today. Surface low pressure centered over southeast Colorado will deepen today. This will result in strong winds in northeast New Mexico this afternoon into early evening. NMZ515-527>530-011800- /O.NEW.KABQ.WI.Y.0039.180601T1800Z-180602T0100Z/ East Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains-Raton Ridge/Johnson Mesa- Far Northeast Highlands-Northeast Highlands-Union County- 324 AM MDT Fri Jun 1 2018 ...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING... The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 7 PM MDT this evening. * LOCATION...Northeast New Mexico from the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the Texas border. * WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph. * TIMING...Winds will increase sharply this morning, peak this afternoon, before diminishing during the evening. * VISIBILITY...May be locally reduced to 3 to 5 miles in blowing dust. In the vicinity of the Ute Park Fire, visibility could be reduced from the smoke. * LOCAL IMPACTS...Drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other high-profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution on the highways, including I-25 and U.S. Highways 64 and 56. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle.
