In addition, a brief burst of snow is likely after midnight tonight across the higher terrain of central New Mexico. While snow amounts will not be that significant, roads may become a sheet of ice as cold air invades the area along with the snow. The high winds will produce blowing snow and brief white-out conditions, making travel even more treacherous. A strong back door cold front will also plunge southward through the northeast plains this afternoon and evening with strong winds. The wind will blow recently fallen snow, or dust in dry locations, producing periods of significantly reduced visibility that may make travel hazardous.
