711 WWUS75 KSLC 272109 NPWSLC URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Salt Lake City UT 309 PM MDT Thu Apr 27 2017 UTZ019-281200- /O.NEW.KSLC.WI.Y.0010.170428T0300Z-170428T1200Z/ Utahs Dixie and Zion National Park- Including the city of St George 309 PM MDT Thu Apr 27 2017 ...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM MDT FRIDAY... The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Wind Advisory...which is in effect from 9 PM this evening to 6 AM MDT Friday. * AFFECTED AREA...North-south oriented valleys and canyon mouths of southwest Utah, particularly along the I-15 corridor from near Hurricane to near Cedar City. Winds are expected to be much lighter in the Saint George area. * WINDS...North to northeast winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. * TIMING...Winds will quickly increase after sunset, likely peaking just after midnight. Winds should decrease by sunrise, but remain breezy. Strong winds are possible again Friday night. * IMPACTS...Strong crosswinds on local east-west oriented roads may make driving difficult at times. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 31 mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected.
