* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southwestern Kane County in southern Utah...specifically for the
town of Kanab and surrounding washes and drainages...
* Until 1115 PM MDT
* At 813 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain over the town of Kanab. Up to one inch of rain has
already fallen in town with up to 2 inches in surrounding terrain.
Flash flooding has begun in the town of Kanab as reported by
county sheriff office dispatch.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry
washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.

At 930 PM MDT, local law enforcement reported ongoing flash flooding in the town of Kanab, and sandbagging has ensued. Additionally, a trained weather spotter reported water running down local roadways, and significant ponding of water in low lying areas. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Moderate to locally heavy rain continues to fall in the area, and estimates of up to an additional .50 inches of rainfall is possible over the next hour (1030 PM MDT).
