The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southern Garfield County in southern Utah...
North central Kane County in southern Utah...
* Until 830 PM MDT
* At 535 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain over an area just south and east of Bryce Canyon
National Park. This includes Sheep Creek and Willis Creek. Both
areas are highly flash flood prone.
* Radar rainfall estimates of over 2+ inches have fallen over these
drainages.
* If you are traveling through this area, be aware of your
surroundings and take precautions to ensure for your safety.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry
washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM MDT FOR
SOUTHERN GARFIELD AND NORTH CENTRAL KANE COUNTIES...
At 643 PM MDT, Sheep Creek and Willis Creek, both drainage's
beginning in Bryce Canyon National Park have received copious
amounts of rainfall this evening. Sheep Creek received according to
radar rainfall estimates of over 2 inches, while Willis received
over an inch. Both areas are highly flash flood prone.
Rainfall over these areas continues, but at a lower intensity than
seen earlier this evening. Flash flooding is expected to be
coursing through the drainage now.
With the additional rainfall expected, these drainages are unsafe.
Please stay out of any small washes originating out of Bryce Canyon
National Park to the east through the nighttime hours.

SOUTHERN GARFIELD AND NORTH CENTRAL KANE COUNTIES...
At 820 PM MDT, While the flash flooding has passed, it is important
to note that rainfall across Willis and Sheep Creek is expected to
continue through the nighttime hours. As such, these drainages which
flash flooded earlier may have brief rises again depending on the
upcoming rainfall.
Please be vigilant that many creeks in this vicinity are still
flowing at elevated levels and warrant caution. Stay away from these
and many other nearby canyons tonight.
