The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect until 7 PM EDT this evening. * Locations...Generally along and west of the Blue Ridge. * Hazards...Strong and gusty northwest winds. * Winds...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts 40 to 45 mph...occasionally gusting to near 50 mph at the higher elevations. * Timing...Until 7 PM this evening. * Impacts...Strong gusty winds may blow down small trees and power lines. Scattered power outages may result. High profile vehicles traveling on north-to-south oriented roadways will be subject to strong cross winds. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 MPH or gusts will range between 46 and 57 MPH.
