Sunday morning...

.Southwest winds will increase ahead of a cold front later today
with a few gusts approaching 45 mph in the higher terrain of West
Virginia into Northwest North Carolina. As the front passes
across tonight, winds shift to the west and northwest with gusts
to 45 to 50 mph anticipated across the mountains into portions of
the Virginia foothills. Winds will start to slacken some by late
Sunday morning.

* Locations...Mountains of Southeast West Virginia, Southwest 
  Virginia and Northwest North Carolina, as well as the Virginia 
  foothills.

* Hazards...Strong, gusty winds.

* Winds...Southwest 10 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph late this 
  afternoon and evening, shift to the west to northwest 15 to 30 
  mph with gusts up to 50 mph overnight into Sunday morning.

* Timing...Strongest winds will occur between midnight and 8am 
  tonight into Sunday morning.

* Impacts...These winds will blow around loose outdoor objects 
  such as trash cans. Traveling will be difficult for higher

.Southwest winds will continue to slowly increase ahead of a 
strong cold front. Winds may gust as high as 45 mph through this
evening in the higher terrain of West Virginia into Northwest 
North Carolina. As the front sweeps each through the area later 
tonight, winds will shift to the west and then northwest with 
gusts to 45 to 50 mph possible in the mountains into portions of 
the Virginia foothills. Winds will begin to diminish by Noon on 
Sunday as higher pressure filters in from the west.

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has cancelled the Wind
Advisory.

The strongest northwesterly wind gusts, capable of causing minor
tree and property damage, have since ended. Winds will still 
continue to gust to 35 mph through the afternoon. With the
strongest gusts having ended, the Wind Advisory is cancelled.
