...The National Weather Service Blacksburg Va has issued
a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Virginia...
Dan River at South Boston affecting Halifax County
...A strong low pressure system will lift northeast through the region
tonight into Friday morning bringing another round of moderate to heavy
rain...
Basin averaged rainfall for the event is expected to be around 1.5 inches,
which should be sufficient to produce significant rises along portions of
the Dan River.
Although the Dan River at Danville and at Paces is not expected to reach
bankfull at the present time, the envisioned amount of rain is expected
to cause the river at South Boston to rise to above the flood stage of
19.0 feet by 200 AM on Saturday, with a crest of around 22.0 feet expected
on Saturday afternoon before falling back to below flood stage
around Noon on Sunday.

through the region early Friday morning bringing an additional
round of moderate to heavy rainfall...
Basin average rainfall for the event is expected to be around 2 inches,
which should be sufficient to produce significant rises along portions
of the Dan River.
While the Dan River at Danville and Paces is not expected to reach bankfull

...A River Flood Warning remains in effect for the following rivers in Virginia...
Dan River at South Boston affecting Halifax County
Runoff from overnight rainfall will raise stages along the entire Dan River
over the next few days. South Boston is still forecast to crest in the
minor flood category. The river is rising very rapidly this morning
upstream of Danville, across portions of Rockingham County, North Carolina.
This rising water is just starting to reach Danville and the river will
rise close to flood stage at Danville by late tonight.
An updated forecast will be issued this afternoon when trends along
the upper Dan River become more clear. A Flood Warning for Danville and
Paces may be necessary at that time.
