...WIND ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING...

The Wind Advisory is now in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening. 

* Timing: The strongest winds are expected this evening along and
  ahead of a cold front, with decreasing winds after the front
  moves through the area. 

* Winds: West 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph this evening. 
 
* Impacts: Hazardous travel for high profile vehicles, especially
  on north to south oriented routes.  

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Continue to secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture 
and trash cans until winds decrease tonight. Remain alert for 
sudden wind gusts that could push vehicles out of their lanes. 
Check with NDOT or CALTRANS for the latest road information.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT WEDNESDAY...

* Timing: The strongest winds are expected from late afternoon
  through this evening along and ahead of a cold front. Winds
  should decrease late tonight behind the front.
 
* Winds: West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Stronger gusts
  up to 60 mph possible in wind prone areas such as Washoe Valley
  and the foothills around Reno, Carson City, and Virginia City. 

* Impacts: Travel restrictions for high profile vehicles are
  likely for I-580 south of Reno. Winds could be strong enough to
  push vehicles out of their travel lanes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

The National Weather Service in Reno has cancelled the Lake Wind
Advisory. 

Winds have diminished behind the cold front early this morning.
Gusts up to 25 mph are expected through this morning on Lake Tahoe
and through the day on Pyramid Lake, but the threat for stronger 
winds has decreased. 

Locally choppy conditions with wave heights up to 2 feet are 
possible on southern portions of Pyramid Lake through 
mid-afternoon.
