The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southwestern Fremont County in central Colorado...
Northwestern Custer County in southeastern Colorado...
Including the Hayden Pass Burn Scar area.
* Until 745 PM MDT
* At 452 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain moving across the warned area. Flash flooding is
expected to begin shortly over the Hayden Pass Burn Scar.
* Flash flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern
Fremont and northwestern Custer Counties, primarily impacting the
Hayden Pass burn scar. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will
result in debris flow moving through the Hayden and Cottonwood
Creek Drainages. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud,
vegetation and other loose materials.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM MDT FOR
SOUTHWESTERN FREMONT AND NORTHWESTERN CUSTER COUNTIES...
At 557 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated that heavy rain had ended
over the Hayden Pass burn scar. However, runoff from earlier rains
continues. Reports of high and muddy water have been reported by
law enforcement along Hayden Creek, on the western edge of the scar.
Additional rises from earlier rains will be possible for a while
longer.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar may result in possible debris
flows moving through the Hayden, Wolf, Cottonwood and Oak Creek
Drainages. The debris flows can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and
other loose materials.
Flash flooding will remain primarily over the Hayden Pass burn scar
area of southwestern Fremont and northwestern Custer Counties.
