* Flash Flood Warning for...
East central Custer County in southeastern Colorado...
West central Pueblo County in southeastern Colorado...
Including the Junkins Burn Scar area.
* Until 645 PM MDT
* At 449 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to one inch of rain has
already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wetmore, the Junkins Fire burn scar area, Beulah.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow
moving through the Red Creek and Hardscrabble Creek Drainages. The
debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose
materials.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

THE JUNKINS BURN SCAR AREA IN EAST CENTRAL CUSTER AND WEST CENTRAL
PUEBLO COUNTIES...
At 518 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Radar estimates up to 1.3 inches of
rain has already fallen on eastern parts of the scar including the
Hardscrabble, Red Creek and North Creek Drainages. A report from
someone traveling near the scar, about 5 miles north of Beulah,
indicated very heavy rain was falling. Flash flooding is expected
to begin shortly if it hasn't already started.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow
moving through the North Creek, Red Creek and Hardscrabble Creek
drainages. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and
other loose materials.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wetmore, the Junkin's burn scar area and Beulah including the North
Creek, Red Creek and Hardscrabble Creek Drainages.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep

flooding from earlier heavy rains may still be ongoing.
Excessive rainfall near the burn scar may still be causing debris
flow moving through the North Creek, Red Creek and Hardscrabble
Creek drainages. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud,
vegetation and other loose materials.
