COUNTIES...

At 400 PM MDT, the law enforcement reported flash flooding occurring 
over the Hayden Pass Burn Scar.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar has resulted in debris flow 
moving through the Cottonwood Creek drainage, under US Highway 50 
into the Arkansas River. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, 
vegetation and other loose materials.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Coaldale.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

COUNTIES...

At 454 PM MDT, emergency management reported minor flooding in 
Coaldale from water and debris coming from the Hayden Pass Burn 
Scar.  This flooding has been moving into the Arkansas River.

Continued light rain over the burn scar may result in additional 
debris flow moving through the Cottonwood and Hardscrabble Creek 
drainages. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and 
other loose materials.

CUSTER AND NORTHEASTERN SAGUACHE COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 615 PM
MDT...

The heavy rain has ended, but periods of light rain may continue 
through much of this evening. At this time, flooding is no longer 
expected to pose a threat. Areas along Cottonwood and Hardscrabble 
Creeks may be unstable due to high water flows, stay away from 
stream banks as they could collapse.  Please continue to heed any 
remaining road closures.
