THIS EVENING...

* AFFECTED AREA...Joshua Tree National Park

* TIMING...This afternoon and evening.

* WINDS...Increasing to 25 to 30 mph with gusts to 35 to 40 mph.

* IMPACTS...Gusty west winds will produce hazardous driving 
  conditions across portions of the park. Some objects may also 
  become airborne during the periods with the strongest winds. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of between
30 and 40 mph are expected, or wind gusts of between 40 and
58 mph. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially
for high profile vehicles. In addition, strong winds over desert
areas could result in briefly lowered visibilities to well under
a mile at times in blowing dust or blowing sand. Use extra
caution.

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PST THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect until 10 PM PST this evening. 

* AFFECTED AREA...Southwest Imperial county including the city of
  El Centro

* TIMING...This afternoon and evening.

* WINDS...Westerly 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 40 to 50 mph.

* IMPACTS...Gusty west winds will produce hazardous driving
  conditions. Blowing dust may become common across portions of
  southwest Imperial County. Some objects may also become airborne
  during the periods with the strongest winds.

...WIND ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has cancelled the Wind
Advisory. 

Gusty southwest to west winds have diminished to below wind
advisory levels across the advisory area and as a result the wind
advisory has been cancelled. It will remain locally windy through
midnight with some gusts in excess of 30 mph, with winds to
continue to taper off overnight. Some of the strongest winds will
persist across the far southwest portion of Imperial County as
well as portions of Joshua Tree National Park.
