...WIND ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM MST /1 PM PST/ THIS
AFTERNOON TO 3 AM MST /2 AM PST/ SATURDAY...

* AFFECTED AREA...In Arizona: Yuma, La Paz, and southwest 
  Maricopa Counties. In California: Imperial and eastern 
  Riverside Counties. 

* TIMING...From mid afternoon today and continuing through the
  early overnight hours. 

* WINDS...Sustained winds of 25-30 mph from the south with gusts 
  of 40 to 50 mph. 

* IMPACTS...Driving will be significantly more difficult due to 
  cross-winds and areas of blowing dust causing suddenly reduced 
  visibility. Motorists traveling east-west oriented roadways 
  such as Interstate 10 west of Phoenix and Interstate 8 west of 
  Gila Bend should be prepared for hazardous driving conditions. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of between
30 and 40 mph are expected...or wind gusts of between 40 and
58 mph. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially
for high profile vehicles. In addition...strong winds over desert
areas could result in briefly lowered visibilities to well under
a mile at times in blowing dust or blowing sand. Use extra
caution.

...WIND ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has cancelled the Wind
Advisory. 

The wind advisory posted for a large area of southeast California
and southwest Arizona, including the Colorado River was canceled 
at 925 pm mst.

Strong Friday afternoon and evening south winds in the 30 to 45 
mph range, ahead of an approaching cold front, had diminished into
the breezy category at 925 pm mst. A cold front is expected to 
move through the Colorado River area around 5 am, so breezy south 
winds in the 15 to 25 mph range will continue most of the night.
