The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
San Bernardino County in southern California...
* Until 600 PM PDT
* At 301 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to
begin shortly.
* Flash flooding will remain over northern parts of Joshua Tree
National Park.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

BERNARDINO COUNTY...
At 342 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
beginning to dissipate across the warned area, which includes
northern potions of Joshua Tree National park. Up to one inch of
rain has already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly
or may already be occurring.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 600 PM PDT FOR SAN
BERNARDINO COUNTY...
At 525 PM PDT, rain had ended across the warned area. Over one inch
of rain fell in a short period of time, which will cause flash
flooding to occur across northern Joshua Tree National Park. Runoff
will likely continue for another 30 or so minutes. This will impact
washes in the park, especially those that flow north toward
Twentynine Palms and the northern entrance to the park.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
