The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Eastern Morris County in northern New Jersey...

* Until 830 PM EDT

* At 632 PM EDT...Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to 
  begin shortly.  Thunderstorms will subside for a time later this 
  evening but may redevelop toward 8 PM. 

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Morristown, Dover, Madison, Florham Park, East Hanover, Lincoln
  Park, Kinnelon, Boonton, Butler, Wharton, Rockaway, Morris Plains,
  Mendham, Mountain Lakes, Riverdale, Victory Gardens, Parsippany,
  Pequannock Township, Lake Telemark and Green Pond.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM EDT FOR
NORTHEASTERN MORRIS COUNTY...

At 722 PM EDT...Doppler radar indicated that the thunderstorms that 
produced the torrential rain in Morris County were departing the 
eastern part of the county, east of Mountain Lakes.  At least one 
and one quarter inches of rain fell in an hour near Parsippany. 
Radar indicated that up to 2 inches fell in an hour in parts of the 
county, especially near Morris Plains and Kinnelon. Flash flooding, 
if any, would be in progress now or begin shortly.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Dover, Lincoln Park, Kinnelon, Boonton, Butler, Wharton, Rockaway,
Morris Plains, Mountain Lakes, Riverdale, Victory Gardens,
Parsippany, Pequannock Township, Lake Telemark, Green Pond and White
Meadow Lake.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM EDT FOR
NORTHEASTERN MORRIS COUNTY...

At 805 PM EDT...gauge reports indicated that the thunderstorms 
produced three quarters of an inch to about 1.5 inches of rain in an 
hour, earlier this evening. Any flooding should now be receding 
although small streams may continue rising into the night.

The slippery banks of the faster flowing small streams should be 
avoided overnight. 

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Dover, Kinnelon, Boonton, Wharton, Rockaway, Morris Plains, Mountain
Lakes, Riverdale, Victory Gardens, Parsippany, Pequannock Township,
Lake Telemark, Green Pond and White Meadow Lake.

This will probably be the last statement on this event.
