The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Freeze Warning, which is in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM EDT Thursday. The Freeze Watch is no longer in effect. * TEMPERATURE...Early morning temperatures at to just below freezing are possible for around two to four hours early Thursday morning across interior Volusia and northern Lake counties. Temperatures in the mid to upper 30s are forecast for most of east central Florida generally west of the Intracoastal waterway inland from the coast and inland south to Lake Okeechobee. Protected areas which are typically colder may see frost develop where freezing temperatures may not quite occur. * IMPACTS...Given the late time of this cold event on the calendar ornamental and sensitive plants may be especially vulnerable to the effects of the cold. Portable plants may need to be brought to a warmer location, or consider covering sensitive vegetation. Small animals should be adequately cared for, or brought indoors if needed.
